SULAIMANI – Twenty members of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) were killed and another 18 wounded on Tuesday (April 25) as a result of Turkish airstrikes in the Mount Karacok area of northeastern Syria, a YPG spokesman said.

The eighteen wounded YPG members are in “poor condition” suffering from wounds inflicted to them due to the aerial bombardment near the city of Derik in Hasakah, said YPG spokesman Redur Khalil.

Much damage also occurred to the General Center of the YPG and civilian properties who had their houses and land close to the YPG bases, he added.

Turkish warplanes hit 39 suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in a one-hour aerial bombardment on Tuesday on the mountains of Sinjar and Karacok, Turkish state media reported.

Turkish warplanes launched air raids against the PKK-affiliated Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS) in Sinjar at 2 a.m. on Tuesday. According to the YBS, one fighter was killed and another one was also wounded.

The air raids in Sinjar included a strike on a Peshmerga headquarters that killed five Peshmerga and wounded nine others.
